Meet the #socialcarefuture Inquirers

The #socialcarefuture inquiry is officially underway! We have already had a few meetings to get to know each other and start to shape the inquiry. The real strength of this inquiry is that as a group designing and leading it, we all have lived experience of either ourselves or our loved ones using social care, and so we are uniquely placed to say what needs to change. We also have a fantastic team of supporters, providing assistance we may ask for or specialist knowledge on areas such as research.

We have started talking about what we would want to look at and how we are going to do it- It’s a big task! The #socialcarefuture online festival sessions (4-6th November) will feed into the inquiry and we will be hosting a session, so register to come along to hear more and be involved. We will also soon be inviting anyone with ideas on how we can make our vision a reality, to contribute- watch this space.

  1. This is a great idea. Could you please say a bit more about who you are and how you came together? Are you academic researchers? Carers? Service users? Part of a campaign with a separate name? I look forward to following this – but not on twitter. (Me, I’m a committee member of the Haringey over 50s Forum, also of the Social Care Alliance Haringey, member of the Haringey KONP group and also doing some academic research about the care crisis. Pleased to eet you all)

    1. Hi Anne, Thank you for your message and support. We are a group of people who all have lived experience of using social care or a family member does. Some of us have been doing things to try and see change for a while, some of us are new to it. But we all want to see change. We also have a group of supporters who can provide skills and support and some academic researchers who will help with analysis.
We are part of a wider movement called Social Care Future. This is an informal network of people- who access social care, their friends and family, people who work in social care or the sector – anyone who wants to see the vision become a reality. We held an online festival last November and the inquiry group had a session so you can hear more from some of us here also we would love to hear your ideas for social care, this blog post has a simple survey or contact details
      Thanks again, Anna
